Healer

The images painted on Healer were inspired by my original painting Transformation/ Metamorphosis that I did in response to the events that occurred in New York City on Sept. 11th, 2001. ‘Healer’ grazes in a field of abundant vegetation after a rainstorm. There is mud on his hooves and around his mouth as he eats leaves and grass. Leaves from wildflowers, fruit, trees, and desert plants are painted from the ground up towards the pony’s belly. Images painted on the pony include indigenous textiles motifs and the Statue of Liberty to acknowledge New York. The images indicate transformation, metamorphosis, love, kinship, peace, spirituality and healing in our Universe.
