HOHOKAM PONY

The Hohokam of the Tucson Basin were a peaceful agrarian people. In one of their villages, the Whiptail Ruin, the pottery shards show the presence of several ancient cultures: Hohokam, Mogollon and Anasazi.... Migration symbols and related geometrics inspired by the ancient shards are arranged on the pony to enhance his flow of muscle and action. The colors of rust and black honor the Hohokam’s Tanque Verde red on brown motifs. The Anasazi checkerboard pattern and the Mogollon corrugation echo the multicultural influences found at the Whiptail site.
